Employer Advisory Board

About Us

The Center for Career and Leadership Development (CCLD) Employer Advisory Board is composed of talent acquisition professionals from a broad range of industries that hire college graduates. Board members demonstrate a strong interest in supporting the employment of college-educated individuals, are committed to advancing CCLD's strategic goals, and contribute time and energy to the board’s initiatives. Members exhibit leadership, effective communication and interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and strong organizational/resource management capabilities.

Purpose & Goals

The CCLD Employer Advisory Board aims to strengthen partnerships between employers, CCLD, and the University through meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

Our goals include:

  • Enhancing employer relationships with CCLD and the broader University community
  • Supporting efforts to increase employer brand visibility among students and alumni
  • Gathering actionable feedback to improve the effectiveness of career services for both employers and students
  • Identifying regional workforce demands to better align student talent with evolving employer needs

Additional Information

  • Demonstrated interest in and engagement with college recruiting and workforce development
  • Willingness to provide input on CCLD goals and contribute to their achievement
  • Ability to commit to attending three board meetings annually (two virtual in January and September, one in-person in May)
  • A proven track record in talent acquisition and/or university recruiting, preferably with experience partnering with Âé¶¹¹ú²úAV (Âé¶¹¹ú²úAV) or similar institutions
  • Capacity to enhance the board’s diversity and strategic value in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of both CCLD and Âé¶¹¹ú²úAV

  • Best practices for employer engagement and recruitment strategies
  • Insights into the skills, competencies, and attributes students need to succeed in today’s workplace
  • Discussion of current economic and industry trends and their impact on recruitment and hiring
  • Exploration of experiential learning opportunities and related programs
  • Employer perspectives on talent needs and how universities can effectively respond
  • Strategies for preparing students for successful internships, job searches, and long-term career success
  • Brainstorming and development of innovative ideas to enhance collaboration and student outcomes

  • The board will consist of 10–15 employer representatives from a diverse range of career fields. (Note: Half of the members will be recruited for the 2025–2026 academic year, with the remaining half joining in 2026–2027.)
  • Members serve a two-year term.
  • The board is chaired by the Associate Director for Employer Programs and Development.
  • All positions are voluntary and filled by nomination or invitation only.
  • Members whoo miss more than three consecutive meetings may be removed at the discretion of the Chair.

  • Strengthen connections with regional employers and industry leaders
  • Gain up-to-date insights into the job market for college graduates
  • Identify the most in-demand skills for today’s workforce
  • Learn effective strategies for marketing to both students and employers
  • Promote greater collaboration between employers and faculty
  •  Generate innovative ideas for program and service development

  • Attend and Engage: Actively participate in three board meetings annually (two virtual in January and September, one in-person in May).
  • Support Events: Represent your organization at least once a year at a CCLD career fair or signature event.
  • Connect with Students: Engage in at least one student-focused activity per academic year (e.g., panelist, presenter, mock interviewer, or class speaker).
  • Recruit: Post job, internship, and co-op opportunities to Âé¶¹¹ú²úAV students via Handshake and report any Âé¶¹¹ú²úAV hires for recognition.
  • Provide Feedback: Respond to occasional requests for input outside of meetings and submit at least one new board member nomination during your final year.
  • Share Insights: Be open to student informational interviews and provide relevant industry updates for faculty engagement.
